just found a baby ring-necked snake in our yard. Any tips on care?
I got it reservoir with bark chips, hiding rock, branch for climbing and basking, water and bark mulch is moist. Seems to be thriving on nutrition baby snake turtle food, cut into small pieces. but do not want to overfeed. Read that earthworms and crickets are good eating, but all other proposals opinions and / or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
You can lose climbing branches as these snakes like to hide under rocks & Rarely go out during the day. They eat worms, salamanders, small snails, priests spoons, small minnows. They are not really eat insects. At this time of year, depending of where they live, they get ready to go dormant (brumate / hibernation), so that is something to take into consideration whether do not want to keep this snake as a home pet at this time. It can be kind difficult to find and favorite food is in winter.
